November is when Goa starts to feel like Goa again. The heat is gone, the shacks are opening, and the big crowds of December have not arrived yet. This year, November also brings Diwali, a major film festival and a busy calendar of events. Here is what is on this month, and how to plan a stay in Calangute.
Is November a good time to visit Goa?
Yes, it is one of the nicest months. The monsoon is over, and most days are warm, sunny and dry, with cooler evenings. Beach shacks are reopening across the state, and most are said to be ready for the season. A few showers can still come after the monsoon, so check the forecast a few days before you travel.
The best part is the timing. You get the start of the season without the full rush of Christmas and New Year, so it is usually easier to plan a relaxed trip.
What is happening in Goa in November 2026?
Three things are worth planning around.
First, Diwali and Narkasur night. Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8. In Goa, the celebration starts the night before. On the night of Saturday, November 7, towns and villages show huge Narkasur effigies with music, parades and competitions, and the effigies are burned before dawn on November 8. It is a Goan tradition you will not find in most of India. Goa Tourism lists Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and other major towns as places to watch it.
Second, IFFI. The 57th International Film Festival of India runs from November 20 to 28, 2026, with Panaji as the main hub. Spain is the guest country this year. Flights and rooms around Panaji and North Goa tend to be in higher demand during the festival, so book early if your dates are fixed.
Third, Kartik Purnima on November 24, which is celebrated with lamps in many places across India, including Goa.
What can you do in Goa besides the beach?
November is a good month to see more of Goa than the sand. Tourism officials are encouraging visitors to try heritage walks in Fontainhas and Old Goa, spice plantation visits, river cruises and hinterland trails. Nature lovers can add birdwatching, forest walks and village visits. These work well as day trips from Calangute.
Will Goa be crowded in November?
On some days, yes. Agoda data reported last month says searches by Indian travellers for Goa for the October and November holiday period are up by nearly 43 percent compared to last year. Expect the Diwali weekend and the IFFI week to be the busiest.
Foreign tourists are coming a little slower this winter. Tour operators say charter bookings from places like Europe and Kazakhstan are late because the weather there is still warm. The charter season did start on October 1, so the season is open. It just means the international crowd may build up later.
Outside those dates, November is usually calmer than December. If you want quieter beaches, pick the days between the events.
How do you get to Goa?
Goa has two airports, Dabolim and Manohar International Airport at Mopa. Airlines are adding winter flights, and Akasa Air plans direct flights between Chandigarh and Goa from December. Check fares for both airports, especially if you are flying in for IFFI. The property does not offer airport pickup, so arrange your taxi in advance.
Where should you stay for Diwali or IFFI?
Calangute in North Goa works well for both. You are close to the beach, the market and plenty of food options, and Panaji is a short drive away. If you are visiting for IFFI, you can spend the day at the screenings and come back to a beach evening.

Calangute Beach, Baga Beach and Calangute Market are each about a 10 minute walk from the property. The address is Ground Floor, House No. 6/65, Khobra Waddo, Calangute, Goa 403516.
Families and groups of friends stay here the most. One guest described the rooms as clean, spacious and well kept, and said the staff are polite and quick to help.
How much does a room cost in November?
Rooms start from around ₹1,200 per room per night in the off season, from April to September. In the peak season, from December to February, they start from around ₹5,000. November sits between the two, so the final price depends on your dates and availability.
For the Diwali weekend and the IFFI week, demand is higher, so ask the team for the exact rate before you plan anything else.
How does direct booking work?
Send your dates and number of guests through the website. The team replies within 15 minutes, checks availability and contacts you to confirm. You pay an advance of 20 to 30 percent of the booking amount, and you can pay by UPI, cash, card or bank transfer.
You can cancel for free up to 24 hours before arrival. The rate for direct guests is discussed with the team, and the property says its best rate is on its own website.
What are the check in time and house rules?
Check in is at 12:00 PM and check out is at 11:00 AM. Early check in or late check out depends on availability, so ask in advance.
Pets are allowed. Smoking is allowed in rooms. Alcohol is fine if it follows the law and the property rules. Unmarried couples are welcome with a valid government ID, and every adult guest must show a valid photo ID. Groups are allowed with prior approval, and parties or events are decided one by one.
Tips for a smooth November trip
Book your stay first, then plan the rest. Diwali weekend and IFFI week are the dates that fill up first.
If you want to see the Narkasur celebrations, remember they run through the night and the burning happens before dawn. The front desk is open 24 hours, so a late night or an early return is not a problem. Be respectful at community celebrations, and follow the local rules.
On IFFI days, roads around Panaji can get busy, so leave a little earlier than you think you need to. And keep a valid government photo ID with you, since every adult guest needs one at check in.
Ready to plan your November stay?
If Calangute is on your list, check Arooba Residency and send an enquiry on the website. Tell the team your dates and how many people are travelling. They will reply directly, and you can ask anything you like before you decide.
